Feels like I have been in Agra for ages now! When arrived we went straight to Fatihpur Sikri as it is a small village home to the ruins of a beautiful palace, and a lovely mosque also. Lots of hassle there though, to buy things and to pay for a guide, constantly being swarmed!
Hotel we stayed in was lovely, it was described as a tourist complex which was a bit far but it was more like somewhere you would expect to stay in Spain or wherever. Owner was quite a character, but had a great personality.
Then went back to Agra and saw the Taj Mahal. Beautiful! Ive never been so amazed by something, I really could have stayed there all day it was so peaceful (even though there were so many tourists). It sounds silly thought but every now and then you just feel this comfort from bumping into other tourists as there not nearly as many here as i thought there would be! Went to Agra fort on my own in the afternoon which was massive and very very stunning, although I was not too well this day so didn't make it all the way round.
Overlsept and missed our train to Delhi in the morning, and so effectively missed the train up to amristar also, but have a new flight now and managed to pay for a train to get us to Delhi to catch the flight tomorrow. So panic over!
Im very fond of Agra even though a lot of peolpe have said its not great here, I just feel like its somewhere i feel comfortable now and would be happy to stay another night or so, but alway better to leave on a high!
Went to a local bazar yesterday evening which was soo good to see, although we got a rickshaw through it because we didnt know how welcome tourist were really, and it was beginning to get dark so though it was a safe bet. However getting across the bridge to get to it was a challenge as there were two monkeys on the side that looked very territorial and were hard to get past, we had to wait for a local to walk with them, and just act as though they weren't there.
Have net some nice people in Agra, French, Polish, English and Japanese, but will all be going our separate ways today!
Weather is ridiculously cooler now as it rained yesturday so feeling so much better, although I think I have now caught some sort of bug as I dont feel too good today - hopefully will be able to sleep it off though! Plus been here a week nearly and first time I've been ill seems pretty good going!
